Costumes are encouraged for both humans and mutts! Decorate a pet-sized float, dress you and your pooch in purple, green and gold or follow the 2012 western theme, The Good, The Bad, and The Furry! The 2012 Parade will be led by Grand Marshal Cane II and a Royal King and Queen recently adopted from CAAWS in 2011. This walking parade is where dogs and their owners stroll along North Boulevard strutting in their finest Mardi Gras attire.

Downtown Baton Rouge's 13th Annual CAAWS Mystic Krewe of Mutts Mardi Gras Dog Parade. CAAWS welcomes all dog lovers to experience the one and only day that dogs are allowed downtown. The CAAWS main information, registration, T-shirt sales, packet pick-up, etc., booth will be located on North Boulevard at Fifth Street. Parade Day Activities are from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. in Downtown Baton Rouge along North Boulevard, activities includes Bark in the Park, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Registration at 10 a.m.; Costume contest at 12 noon; and Parade at 1:30 p.m.

Help Us Saves Lives... by parading your pooch in our city’s favorite family-friendly Mardi Gras event. This annual event is the largest fund-raiser for the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) and all profits go directly to support our community spay/neuter fund. CAAWS does not receive any government assistance and subsists solely from private donations and memberships. Please support CAAWS so that we may continue with the work we do. Jupiter rolls to the streets on Saturday night at 6 p.m. Parade begins at the corner of Government Street and St. Philip Street, and ending at the corner of Convention Street & S. River Road. Jupiter's 2012 Theme is "Take a Walk on the Wild Side."

Baton Rouge's first and only all-female parading Mardi Gras Krewe was founded in 2001 with the mission of focusing on a family style Mardi Gras event that could be enjoyed.

Krewe Mystique de la Capitale

The Krewe Mystique rolls to the streets at 2 p.m. Parade begins and ends at the corner of Government Street & St. Philip Street. Krewe Mystique de la Capitale held its first parade in 1977 and has continued with its annual Mardi Gras Parades to this date. Our parade consists of approximately 25 to 30 floats representing our krewe along with many local businesses and charitable organizations. With the addition of several bands and many other marching groups, our parade is a wonderful experience for the people who come to take part. We consider our event to be a very family friendly parade, enjoyable for all ages.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH
KREWE OF ORION, "Celebrating 200 Years of Louisiana History"
6:30 p.m.

The Krewe of Orion's 14th annual Mardi Gras parade will roll in downtown Baton Rouge on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. This family-oriented parade begins and ends at the corner of Government Street and St. Philip Street. Parade goers will be treated to a line of exciting, colorful traditional lighted and tractor-pulled floats. Following the parade theme, “Celebrating 200 Years of Louisiana History”, each float will be decorated to depict a historical landmark or event of Louisiana’s storied 200 year history. Masked and costumed riders will throw plenty of Orion parade theme medallions, footballs, cups, plush animals, swords and doubloons, lighted throws, and beads. Marching bands as well as riding and marching units will be among the great sights and sounds at this wonderful parade.

Note:  Due to ongoing downtown road construction, each krewe’s parade route is subject to change. As change information becomes available, parade maps will be revised accordingly to the reflect any parade route change.

For those wanting a little more, consider the Krewe of Orion’s Masquerade. The evening begins indoors at 7 p.m. at the Baton Rouge River Center with entertainment by Louisiana’s musical showman, Vince Vance, and the Valiants. All Masquerade guest seats are reserved through advanced ticket sales with no tickets available at the door.

SPANISH TOWN PARADE, "It's Conival Time!"
12 Noon

The 32nd Annual Parade begins at 12 noon on State Capitol Drive. Spanish Town rolls out with a fleet of 100 floats. Dancing to the marching bands, hands poised for catching goodies, eclectic attire is the order of the day. Come early and bring your lawn chairs. The krewe's theme for 2012 is "It's Conival Time!" and dignitaries are King Edwin Edwards, Queen Liz Fischer, and Grand Marshal Brian Nolan.

Spanish Town's 23rd Annual Ball to be held on Saturday, February 4th at the Baton Rouge River Center Arena. The doors will open at 7 p.m.and live music at 7:30 p.m. Dress will be costume or creative formal put your best ideas to work!

NOTE** The Alcohol Free Zone is designated from the north side of Convention Street between 5th and 7th Streets.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21ST
BEAUREGARD TOWN WALKING PARADE
12 Noon

The Beauregard Town walking parade strolls at noon on Mardi Gras Day and snakes it's way through Historic Beauregard Town before ending at an unofficial, open to the public party with food and beverages.

What sets this parade apart is that everyone who watches is invited to "join in" the parade! It is a human powered parade with bicycles, pedestrians, and peddle-powered "floats" welcome!
